Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Indonesias 2014 general elections is the final pitch for figures growing during the New Order era of former president Soeharto, according to Lingkaran Survey Indonesia (LSI).

"The elections this year is like the The Last of the Mohicans film namely the final pitch for presidential candidates that grew during the New Order era. This is their last chance," head of the survey institute, Denny JA, stated here on Wednesday.

He explained that the general elections in the next five years would be the stage for figures that grew during the reform era such as Joko Widodo, Ganjar Pranowo, Arya Bima and Ridwan Kamil.

"In the next five years no more New Order figures would take part in the competition," he predicted.

Although the 2014 general elections will be the final stage for New Order figures, he believed competition among political parties will remain peaceful.

"I am predicting it will be 95 percent peaceful. The rest will be a mere war in the social media," he added.

The LSI is still conducting a quick count on votes cast at the polling stations across the country in the legislative elections on Wednesday.

So far PDIP, Golkar, Gerindra and Democrat Party have been dominating the vote collection.

Denny added that the results of the quick count could also describe which party would likely lead coalition.

Only parties that win minimally 25 percent of national votes are allowed to nominate their own presidential and vice presidential candidates.
