Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Jakarta Metropolitan Police will deploy 10,000 police officers to ensure security on Good Friday and Easter Sunday in the capital city, an official said.

"We have received the report about the Easter holiday and therefore we will deploy 10,000 of our personnel to maintain security to ensure that Christians can observe Good Friday and Easter in peace," Jakarta Metropolitan Police Chief Inspector General Dwi Priyatno said here on Thursday.

He noted that the police force will ensure security at all the churches in the Jakarta jurisdiction during Good Friday and Easter Sunday.

Dwi explained that the number of police personnel will be adjusted depending on the need, potential for security disturbance and concentration of people at a location.

However, he added that security conditions in Jakarta and its vicinity before Good Friday and Easter Sunday remained calm and there was nothing to worry about.
