Chinese President Xi Jinping has invited his Iranian counterpart President Hassan Rouhani to visit China.
Beijing (ANTARA News) - Chinese Deputy Foreign Minister Cheng Guoping said on Thursday that the Iranian and Chinese presidents are to meet each other in Shanghai to discuss expansion of relations and cooperation between the two countries.

Speaking to reporters in Shanghai, he said Chinese President Xi Jinping has invited his Iranian counterpart President Hassan Rouhani to visit China.

The 4th Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) will be held in Shanghai next week in which head of states from various countries are scheduled to exchange views on issues of mutual interests as well as regional and international developments, he said.

Leaders, officials and representatives from 46 countries have voiced readiness to attend the confab, he said.

China is to assume the rotating chairmanship of the upcoming Shanghai Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) till 2016.

The theme of the conference is to bolster talks, confidence building, cooperation, peace and stability, he said.

Shanghai Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) will be held every four years.
