The index of the Indonesian Stock Exchange (BEI) closed 0.18 percent lower at 4,963.93 points with the index of 45 most liquid stocks down 0.23 percent to 845.72 points.
PT Asjaya Indosurya Securitiess analyst William Surya wijaya said despite the decline there was big potential for JCI to rise this week with continued inflow of foreign fund into the domestic market.
In Mondays trade, there was still Rp62.694 billion in foreign net buy, he pointed out.
"The JCI is still in the uptrend. The JCI is expected to hover around 4,946-5,032 points on Wednesday," he said.
Tuesday is holiday, therefore, there would be no trade.
There were 135,880 transactions recorded on Monday with 4.51 billion shares worth Rp4.23 trillion changing hands.
Regional markets such as Hang Seng fell 0.01 percent in index to 22,963.18, with Nikkei index up 0.97 percent to 14,602.52 and that of Straits Times gaining 0.20 percent to 3,283.67 points.(*)
