Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Jakarta composite index (JCI) slipped 0.07 percent in the opening trade on Wednesday after a significant growth on Tuesday.

The index of the Indonesian Stock Exchange (BEI) opened 3.36 points lower at to 4,942.73 with the index of 45 most liquid stocks down 0.10 percent to 837.12, Samuel Sekuritas analyst Tiesha Narandha Putri said here on Wednesday.

Asian markets showed varying trends with Nikkei gaining slightly and Hang Seng lost also slightly, she added.

Asjaya Indosurya Securities analyst William Surya Wijaya said the BEI needs positive sentiment in the country to keep the JCI in positive area.

Currently investors is awaiting the result of the monetary policy meeting of Bank Indonesia to be held on June 12.

Meanwhile, in interbank transactions rupiah opened flat at the level of 11,803 per US dollar. (*)
