There is no other illness."Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Vice presidential candidate M. Jusuf Kalla admitted that he had developed serious flu but was not hospitalized after a vice presidential debate on Sunday evening.
"Doctor said I had got severe flu as a result of fatigue. There is no other illness," Kalla stated in the office of the General Elections Commission (KPU) while attending the announcement by the KPU regarding the personal wealth of presidential and vice presidential candidates here on Tuesday.
It was earlier reported that Kalla, who was also a former vice president during the 2004-2009 period, was admitted to the Abdi Waluyo Hospital in Menteng, Central Jakarta, after attending a vice presidential debate on Sunday evening.
Kalla explained that he had suffered from fatigue after conducting various campaign activities. However, he was not hospitalized and had received intensive care for six hours.
"Even now I am fasting and God willing (I am not going to break it)," he stated, adding that he had recovered and was scheduled to continue campaigning on Tuesday afternoon.
It was reported on Monday that vice presidential candidate M. Jusuf Kalla was hospitalized at the Abdi Waluyo Hospital, Central Jakarta, on Sunday night, but it was not because of the vice presidential debate.
"No, it was just a routine medical checkup. I confirm one thousand percent that he was not exhausted because of the Sunday evening debate," Akbar Faisal, a member of the Joko Widodo (Jokowi)-Jusuf Kalla (JK) success team, remarked at the Jokowi-JK Media Center, here on Monday.
Kalla was now resting at home, and he will continue with the election campaigning when his condition gets better, he added.
Faisal stated that JK had spent a night in hospital to undergo a medical checkup.
"Because it was too late, he stayed overnight at the hospital. Basically, he is not sick, it is just a routine medical checkup," Faisal affirmed.
Presidential candidate Jokowi confirmed that JK was hospitalized as he was suffering from acidity.
"He was indeed hospitalized. It was reported that he was diagnosed with acidity and sent back home, if I am not wrong," he noted.
JK, the running mate of Jokowi, and his rival, Hatta Rajasa, the running mate of presidential candidate, Prabowo Subianto, took part in the vice presidential debate organized by the KPU on Sunday evening.
