Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Indonesias central bank, Bank Indonesia, has announced that there will be no banking activities on July 9, 2014, due to the upcoming Indonesian presidential election.

As per a press release received here on Wednesday from the central banks Communication Department, in order to support the presidential election, Bank Indonesia noted that Wednesday, July 9, is a day off, and other dates that are set by the Indonesian Election Commission will also be considered as a holiday.

The decision is based on the 2014 presidential and the vice presidential election schedule as stated in the Commissions Regulation No. 4 of 2014 dated, March 3, 2014.

The central bank will negate all banking operational activities such as cash services, payment systems comprising National Clearing System and Bank Indonesia Real Time Gross Settlement, Bank Indonesia Scriptless Securities Settlement System, and the rupiah and foreign exchange monetary operations.

If the Commission then decides to schedule the second round of the presidential and vice presidential election on Tuesday, September 9, 2014, then it will also be set as a holiday for the bank.
