"There have been no reports of any untoward incident in Indonesia. I am grateful that the result of the election has been announced, and the people are following the process peacefully," Djoko noted.
He emphasized that in spite of a presidential candidate withdrawing from the vote counting process on Tuesday, the security situation in Indonesia until Wednesday remains safe.
However, Djoko admitted that the police and military personnel will remain on high alert in the days to come.
Indonesia recently held its presidential election on July 9 with two pairs of presidential candidates: Prabowo Subianto with his running mate, Hatta Rajasa, and Joko Widodo with his vice presidential candidate, Jusuf Kalla.
Joko Widodo or popularly known as Jokowi and Jusuf Kalla were named as the winners of the 2014 presidential election by the General Elections Commission (KPU) on Tuesday (July 22).
The KPU on Tuesday had completed the recapitulation of votes for the 2014 presidential election, with presidential candidate Joko Widodo securing 70,997,833 votes, while his competitor, Prabowo Subianto, receiving 62,576,444 votes.
According to ANTARAs observation, the total voter turnout in the polling stations in 33 provinces and 130 overseas was 133,574,277 out of 190,307,134 eligible voters registered with the KPU.(*)
