Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Singapores Prime Minister Lee Hsein Loong called Indonesias President-elect Joko Widodo using a hot line to congratulate him on winning the 2014 presidential election.

Prime Minister Lee and Joko Widodo acknowledged the deep and close ties that Singapore and Indonesia have developed over the years.

Lee is looking forward to working with Joko Widodo to strengthen bilateral ties and explore new areas of cooperation for the mutual benefit of both countries.

Lee also remarked that that he looks forward to soon meeting Joko Widodo.

Besides this, Lee has also sent Joko Widodo a congratulatory letter commending him on his victory.

"Your victory reflects the confidence and hope that the Indonesian people have in your leadership. It was a hard-fought campaign, but you won Indonesians over with your vision, your focus on their concerns and aspirations, and your natural identification with ordinary citizens," Lee noted in the letter.

"I am confident that Indonesia will thrive under your able leadership," Lee added.

On Tuesday (July 22), the Indonesian General Elections Commission in Jakarta announced the running presidential candidate pair, Joko Widodo and Jusuf Kalla, as the elected president and vice president for the 2014-2019 term.

According to the commission, the winning presidential and vice presidential candidates in the 2014 election are Joko Widodo and Muhammad Jusuf Kalla who received 70,997,833 votes or 53.15 percent of the total valid votes.

President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono was the first to congratulate the newly elected president and vice president, Joko Widodo and Jusuf Kalla.

Earlier, Joko Widodo has also received congratulatory calls from US President Barack Obama and Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott.
