"We are still searching for the missing Australian tourist, and we still have not found any signs of him," Nusa Penida Police Chief Police Commissioner Nyoman Suarsika said.Denpasar, Bali (ANTARA News) - Bali Police is still searching for an Australian tourist who reportedly went missing ten days ago, and there were no signs hinting to his disappearance.
"We are still searching for the missing Australian tourist, and we still have not found any signs of him," Nusa Penida Police Chief Police Commissioner Nyoman Suarsika stated here on Friday.
Peter James Alexander Maynard, the missing tourist from Noosa, Queensland, Australia, was last seen having breakfast in his bungalow in Nusa Penida on Tuesday (Aug. 26).
Mr Maynard was scheduled to check out from the bungalow on Thursday (Aug. 28), but he was not traceable and had left his belongings, including his surfboard, in the bungalow, Suarsika revealed.
The police have been trying to trace the whereabouts of Maynard by contacting local shops providing diving and surfing gear, in case he shows up or had been there since he was reported missing.
"We are still unsure what can possibly be the cause of Mr Maynards disappearance, and we are still trying to find him," Suarsika noted.
Peter Maynards wife, Kylie Maynard, is also assisting the local police in the search for her husband.
Nusa Lembongan is a tourist area frequented by many international tourists for its rich biodiversity and is famous for its world-class surf breaks.
It usually takes around 1.5 hours from Denpasar to reach the small island of Nusa Lembongan, which is separated from Balis mainland island.(*)
