"We will destroy around 600 various assembled firearms in the front yard of provincial police command on Thursday at 9.00 a.m.," Brig. Gen. Arief said here on Tuesday.
According to him, the accumulation of about 600 firearms was not because of raids, but the people who had possessed the assembled weapons had handed them over to the nearest police station voluntarily.
The provincial police chief noted that he had earlier appealed to the community to surrender the firearms through the police precincts in the province voluntarily.
"Those who have handed over the firearms voluntarily will not be subject to legal sanction," Arief added.(*)
