"We suspect that they have used fake passports. They had claimed to have come from Turkey, but no record exists of their departure from that country," police spokesman said.
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Four foreign terror suspects, who have been detained for illegal entry into Indonesia through Central Sulawesi, had used fake passports, according to a spokesman of the Indonesian Police.

"We suspect that they have used fake passports. They had claimed to have come from Turkey, but no record exists of their departure from that country," Senior Commissioner Agus Riyanto, police spokesman, reported here on Monday.

The Indonesian Polices Densus 88 counterterrorism squad had arrested four foreigners in Marantale village, Siniu subdistrict, Central Sulawesi, recently.

The foreigners were identified as A Basyit, A Bozoghlan, A Bayram, and A Zubaidan and were initially believed to be Turkish nationals.

Claiming to be tourists on a recreation to Indonesia, they had entered Indonesias territory separately.

"Some had entered Indonesia through Jakarta and others through Bandung. They had met in Makassar, South Sulawesi, and had later proceeded to Palu. Most likely they had planned to head to Poso, Central Sulawesi," he added.

The Indonesian Police investigators continue to question the foreigners, despite language barrier.

Some inconsistencies existed with regard to their data in passports and their answers during the interrogation.

One of them claimed to be only 19 years old, but the passport mentioned his age to be 27 years.

The police are coordinating with the immigration office and the Turkish embassy in Jakarta to check the validity of their passports.

In an interrogation helped by a translator, the foreigners claimed to have once stayed in Turkey. Most likely they were from Turkestan, which is located near the border between China and Mongolia, the police spokesman stated.

The police suspected that the four foreigners intended to join a terror group led by Santoso, who was hiding somewhere in Poso forest and had declared his affiliation to the Islamic State.(*)
