Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Joko Widodo, better known as Jokowi, was officially inaugurated as the 7th president of Indonesia before the Peoples Consultative Assemblys (MPRs) plenary session here on Monday.

"In the name of God, I take oath as the president of Indonesia and promise to fulfill my tasks properly, justly, by upholding the Constitution and all the regulations as rightly as possible," Jokowi stated.

With the oath-taking ceremony, Jokowi was officially installed as the 7th president of Indonesia after Sukarno, Suharto, B.J. Habibie, Abdurrahman Wahid, Megawati Sukarnoputri, and Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.

Besides Jokowi, Jusuf Kalla also took oath at the same time as the vice president to replace Boediono.

After taking oath, Jokowi and Kalla swapped their seats with Yudhoyono and Boediono.

The inauguration of Jokowi as the president and Kalla as the vice president was the sole agenda of MPRs plenary session chaired by its Speaker Zulkifli Hasan.

Present at the presidential inauguration ceremony were 672 of the 682 members of the MPR, former presidents B.J. Habibie and Megawati Soekarnoputri, while the late Abdurrahman Wahid was represented by his wife, Shinta Nuriyah, and former vice presidents, Try Sutrisno and Hamzah Haz.
