Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) received US Secretary of State John Kerry at the Merdeka Palace here on Monday night.

The meeting started at around 08.00 p.m. shortly after the President received Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott.

This is the first meeting between Jokowi and the US secretary of state since he was sworn in as the countrys seventh president on Monday.

John Kerry is the fourth official of the friendly country to meet Jokowi following his inauguration.

Earlier, Jokowi received Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Tun Abdul Razak, Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and Prime Minister Abbott.

Jokowi and Jusuf Kalla were sworn in as the president and vice president, respectively, of Indonesia on Monday before the plenary meeting of the Peoples Consultative Assembly (MPR). (S012/B003)
