Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo has ordered the transport minister to immediately recheck all procedures, flight processes, and conditions of all aircraft in Indonesia.

"I have ordered the transport minister to immediately check all procedures, flight processes, and conditions of all planes thoroughly as part of efforts towards prevention and improvements, in line with the suggestions from the International Civil Aviation Organization," he said at the central command post for the search of the missing AirAsia QZ8501 flight at the Basarnas Central Office here on Monday.

The president also ordered the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) to provide more information on weather conditions so that airline companies in Indonesia can pay more heed to them.

On the occasion, Jokowi urged all parties to provide their full support to the search for AirAsia flight QZ8501, which lost contact with Air Traffic Control on Sunday (December 28) morning.

"Let us extend our full support to the search for the aircraft. We hope to get immediate results and clear information about it. Let us also pray so that God helps us in our efforts and that all passengers are found," he emphasized.

The president pointed out that he was informed about the incident while he was still in Wamena, Papua.

"I was shocked. Im worried and sad for the families of the passengers and crew members, and also for all people of Indonesia," Jokowi remarked.

Soon after hearing the news, the president said he immediately ordered the National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) to lead the search operations with support from all personnel of the TNI (military) and the police, as well as those from the ministries and institutions concerned and community members.

He added that he had ordered the vice president to lead the search operations directly, as well.

"We pray that all families of the passengers and crew members are given patience and strength and that the search gives us immediate results," he stressed.

In the search for flight QZ8501, President Joko Widodo noted that Indonesia was being helped by Malaysia, Australia, and Singapore, with support from South Korea, too.

"Three ships, one helicopter and one CN from Malaysia, two aircraft from Australia, two C130s and two ships from Singapore, and all forces, including 11 fixed-wing aircraft, 12 rotary-wing aircraft and 24 ships, from Indonesia are deployed," he affirmed.(*)
