Batam, Riau Islands (ANTARA News) - The Hang Nadim International Airport on Batam island in Riau Islands Provice was reopened after the crash of a trainer plane on Tuesday.

Earlier in the day, a Flybest trainer plane crashed onto the Hang Nadim airports runway, but there was no fatality, according to Batams One Stop Services Director and Public Relations Dwi Djoko wiwoho.

He said the accident forced the airport to close until 12 noon but now it has been reopened, and a plane operated by Citilink was the first to land at 12.10 at the airport.

"Yea, the airport has been temporarily closed but now the Citilink plane can land at 12.10," Dwi said, adding that during the evacuation process of the ill-fated aircraft, numerous planes that were about to land were diverted to other airport.

In the meantime, Hang Nadim Airport acting chief Suwarso said he had contacted the Flybest management for information about the cause of the accident.

Suwarso pointed out that the crash of Flybest trainer plane at Hang Nadim airport on Tuesday was the second of its kind after a light plane also crashed in Batam waters in 2013.
