The agreement was achieved during a meeting between Head of the Indonesian National Counter-terrorism Agency (BNPT) Commissioner General Saud Usman and Chinas Vice Minister of Public Security Meng Hongwei in Beijing.
According to the Political Functional Chief of the Indonesian Embassy to China Sugeng Wahono, Indonesia urged China to improve the ability of officers in both countries to handle cyber terrorism.
Usman noted that radical terrorist groups were using the Internet and other technology to spread ideological propaganda, which is rife in current times.
The agency also believes that tackling terrorist acts that involve the use of the Internet and other communication technology is crucial to do away with negative propaganda entering countries.
"Radical websites on the Internet pose a dangerous threat that should be resolved together. Such terrorism-related websites can generate new terrorists," Usman warned.
Moreover, the Chinese government arrested more than 250 people in 2014 and convicted them for spreading videos on terrorism and violence. The suspects circulated videos promoting terrorism through the Internet and portable devices.
The Xinjiang administration also prohibits the downloading, saving and dissemination of online terrorism-related videos.(*)
