Manado (ANTARA News) - Garuda Indonesia is planning to introduce a direct flight between Manado, the capital of North Sulawesi, and Guangzhou, China, in July, deputy governor of the Indonesian province Djouhari Kansil said here on Saturday.

"In addition, the national flag carrier plans to open a direct flight between Bali and Manado next month," spokesman for the provincial administration, Jahja Rondonuwu, affirmed, quoting the deputy governor.

He added that Kansil had revealed the plans while opening a North Sulawesi tourism road show, organized by the provinces tourism services in cooperation with tourism businesses in Kuta Beach, Bali, on Friday.

Moreover, Kansil noted at the occasion that he hoped the event would help to promote the tourism potential of North Sulawesi and attract more domestic and foreign tourists.

He also hoped the activity would create connectivity among tourism businesses and businesspersons.

Head of a North Sulawesi tourism service Happy T. R. Korah stated that the road show was aimed at promoting North Sulawesis tourism potential, in cooperation with tourism stakeholders, to domestic as well as foreign tourists in Bali.

Various local dance performances were staged at the event, which was attended by tourism officials from Bali.
