The task force has just been established."Kupang (ANTARA News) - The police, anti-graft body, and Attorney Generals Office (AGO) recently formed an anti-corruption task force aimed at strengthening synergy between the three institutions to combat corruption, stated Indonesian Police Chief General Badrodin Haiti.
"This is the first time that such a task force has been formed. If it works effectively, its presence will be extended," Haiti informed journalists on the sidelines of his visit here on Thursday.
However, if the task force failed to function effectively, it would be evaluated as its presence is expected to strengthen unity among the police, Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), and AGO in fighting corruption and speeding up investigation.
With the presence of this task force, the strengths of the three institutions can be united. The police, for instance, have investigators in various parts of Indonesia while the KPK does not, he pointed out.
"However, the KPK has greater authority to carry out wire-tapping activities than the police," he said.
As a result of good synergy between the three institutions, the investigations into corruption cases can be accelerated as the dossiers will be completed by the members of the task force.
"The task force has just been established. So, please do not comment on it at the moment. Let it start functioning first," he emphasized.
General Haiti and Indonesian Military Chief General Moeldoko were in East Nusa Tenggara Province to visit the army personnel being deployed to secure a border security post at Motaain, the Indonesia-Timor Leste border area.
