Sydney (ANTARA News) - A 13-year-old teenager plunged to his death in one of Sydney's most iconic shopping center on Sunday after apparently skylarking.

The boy was on the fourth floor of the ornate 19th century Queen Victoria Building in the CBD and was apparently sliding down a banister when he toppled over the side into an open atrium and fell 30 meters to a tiled floor in front of horrified shoppers around 3 pm local time

He was rushed to hospital, but died at three hours later.

The boy had been playing with his sister while their parents shopped. The incident was captured on CCTV cameras. Police said on Monday they are preparing a report for the coroner.
