This Life Science Park with an animal laboratory will be the largest in Asia and the construction of the park is part of Bio Farma`s long-term work plan for the next 200 years.Bandung, W Java (ANTARA News) - Indonesias vaccine manufacturer Bio Farma will build a Life Science Park equipped with an animal laboratory facility located in Bogor district, West Java province.
"This Life Science Park with an animal laboratory will be the largest in Asia. Bio Farmas new vaccines will also be produced in this new research and production facility," President Director of Bio Farma Iskandar stated here, Wednesday.
The new research laboratory and plant will be built on a 500-hectare plot of land in Jasinga, Bogor district.
Iskandar remarked that the construction of the Life Science Park is part of Bio Farmas long-term work plan for the next 200 years.
According to Iskandar, the new facility will be the center for conducting all research and vaccine development trials, the raw materials for which will be made available.
"In future, Jasinga will be the largest laboratory in line with our vision to develop Bio Farma for the next 200 years. The area is going to be the future of Bio Farma," he emphasized.
According to Iskandar, the development of Bio Farmas new laboratory and plant is a long-term investment as vaccine research and development process takes a long period of time.
"Research for developing a vaccine takes 15-20 years, so we have to chalk out a plan for up to 200 years," he said, adding the world not only needs vaccines but also biosimilar products for medical treatment.
Minister of Health Nila Djuwita F. Moeloek has voiced her support to the plan to develop a Life Science Park. She expressed hope that the facility could improve the quality of public health.
"I laud Bio Farmas plan to build the Life Science Park and agree with the companys development plan for the next 200 years. Indonesia should take leaps in order to improve the quality of public health," the minister affirmed.
She said that taking into account rapid developments in the field of healthcare throughout the world, Bio Farmas 200-year development plan is increasingly strategic.
"I hope the construction of this new facility would be able to solve the health problems being faced not only by the nation but also across the world," Moeloek added.(*)
