Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Finance Ministry said until end of August spending of budget fund was only 34.7 percent of this years target set for the sectors under the economics coordinating ministry.

"Spending by the ministries under the coordinating economics ministry totaled only around Rp78.3 trillion of the total target of Rp225.43 trillion," Finance Minister Bambang Brodjonegoro said in a hearing with the budget commission of the House of Representatives here on Monday.

There are 13 ministries/government agencies under the economics coordinating ministry.

The highest spending in proportion was recorded by the Finance Ministry reaching 59.6 percent with spending at Rp15.3 trillion of its budget of Rp25.6 trillion.

The lowest was 18 percent recorded by the Labor Ministry with spending reaching only Rp22.3 trillion of its budget target for the year.

The spending of budget in proportion by other agencies were 47.5 percent by the National Development Planning Ministry, 46.9 percent by the Capital Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), 39.4 percent by the Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises Ministry, 37.9 percent by the Agriculture Ministry, 32.3 percent by the Ministry of Agrarian Affairs, 29.2 percent by the State Enterprises Ministry, 30.8 percent by the Forestry and Environment Ministry,28.3 percent by the Public Works and Housing Ministry, 20.9 percent by the Industry Ministry and 23.5 percent by the Trade Ministry.

Deputy Chairman of the Budget Commission Djoko Ujianto said he was not satisfied with the performance of the government.

Meanwhile Trade Minister Thomas Lembong said the spending by his ministry was low .

Thomas attributed the poor performance to delay in the approval of the state budget.(*)
