"Lapan plans real time and automatic verification and validation system to improve the accuracy of Sadewa," Didi Satiadi, head of the Lapans division of atmosphere model, said here on Tuesday.
Didi said the project began in 2012 and since then verification and validation of forecasts continued by the PTSA of Lapan.
In addition, Sadewa would continue to be developed and improved that condition could be forecast three days ahead without reducing the resolution.
Currently Sadewa could give forecast of condition 24 hours ahead with high room resolution -- five kilometers per hour. Through Sadewa, rain, winds, temperature, and water steam could be forecast 24 hours ahead.
Didi hoped that Sadewa could socialized well among the people as the early warning system would help them to take precautions against extreme weather, which often hits the country lately.
Sadewa also could serve as a learning instrument for school teachers in explaining to the students the dynamics of weather from time to time, he said.
"Sadewa could be useful for students to know more about weather phenomenon such as tropical cyclone, ITCZ, monsoon , etc," he said.
PSTA researcher Dadang Subarna said with AWS (Automatic Weather Station), which is also owned by Lapan, the weather condition such as rain , winds, humidity and temperature could be observed every 15 minutes .
Sadewa also has the capacity to detect and forecast extreme weather through satellite and model prediction.
Sadewa has been developed to provide early warning if any extreme weather in the form of running text.(*)
