Surabaya, E Java (ANTARA News) - The Surabaya city election supervisory committee (Panwaslu) has issued stern warnings to the two pairs of mayoral candidates for violating campaign rules.

"Do not underestimate administrative violations," the chief of the election supervisory committee, Wahyu Hariyadi, said here Tuesday.

The pair of mayoral and vice mayoral candidates Risma-Wisnu violated the campaign rules by setting up the first volunteer command post at a neighborhood association hall, according to him.

The pair of mayoral and vice mayoral candidates Rasiyo-Luci received a stern warning after the election supervisory committee found numerous pictures of the candidates stuck on the rear glass windows of several public transport minivans.

He urged the two pairs of mayoral candidates to abide by the campaign rules, otherwise, they could be disqualified from the mayoral election.

"So starting next week all the stickers must be removed from the public transport minivans. If until the specified day the warning goes unheeded, we will impose administrative sanctions on the two pairs of mayoral candidates," he said.

The campaign teams of the two mayoral candidate pairs should comply with the rules, he urged.

Surabaya, which is the second largest city in Indonesia, will hold its mayoral election on Dec. 9, along with 268 regional elections across the country.(*)
