Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto declared Indonesia's readiness to make a greater contribution to global peace, including deploying up to 20,000 personnel for United Nations peacekeeping missions.

Delivering his remarks at the UN General Assembly Hall in New York on Tuesday local time, Prabowo emphasized Indonesia's role as one of the largest contributors to UN peacekeepers.

"We believe in the United Nations. We will continue to serve where peace needs guardians — not with just words, but with boots on the ground," he said.

The president reaffirmed Indonesia’s commitment to comply with any UN Security Council or General Assembly decisions requiring peacekeeping deployments in conflict zones.

"Indonesia is prepared to deploy 20,000 or even more of our sons and daughters to help secure peace in Gaza or elsewhere — in Ukraine, in Sudan, in Libya, everywhere peace needs to be enforced and guarded. We are ready," he stated.

Alongside troop contributions, Indonesia is also committed to providing financial support for UN peacekeeping efforts.

"We will take our share of the burden, not only with our sons and daughters. We are also willing to contribute financially to support the great mission of the United Nations," Prabowo said.

He stressed that global solidarity is essential to achieve lasting peace and reiterated Indonesia’s support for a strong United Nations.

"Without the United Nations, we cannot be safe. No country can feel secure. We need the United Nations, and Indonesia will continue to support it," he said.
