Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Chief of Jakarta police Insp.Gen. Tito Karnavian said he agrees on call to punish men with castration for raping under age girls.

"We agree that it is necessary to slap the heaviest punishment for suspects found raping young girls," Tito said here on Wednesday.

Firm and repressive measure should be made to protect young girls from sexual abuse, he added.

He said a man even deserves to be punished with death for forcing a young girl to have sex.

He said the idea of castration as a punishment for men raping young girls is yet to be discussed with expert and related officials.

"The breakthrough in regulation would be discussed by police, court officials, prosecutors, penitentiary officials and lawmakers," the two star police general said.

He said protection is an important part of preventive measure against sexual abuses.

He said he hoped the government would be serious in addressing the growing cases of violence including sexual abuses with young children as victims
