"Denmark has the technology to generate electricity from the winds and we would develop that in Sulawesi," Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Rizal Ramli said.Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Indonesia and Denmark would cooperate in developing wind energy to generate electricity in Sulawesi, Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Rizal Ramli said.
"Denmark has the technology to generate electricity from the winds and we would develop that in Sulawesi," Rizal said after the signing of a memorandum of understanding in maritime affairs with Danish Foreign Minister Kristian Jensen at Tanjung Priok port here on Thursday.
The minister said the two countries would also cooperate in the development of tourism in Belitung and in a number of other maritime sectors.
Indonesia is one of the worlds largest maritime countries, having the second longest coast line in the world with extraordinary natural wealth, he said.
He said the cooperation would benefit the country in exploiting the natural wealth and in developing the countrys human resources.
Danish Ambassador to Indonesia Casper Klynge said Denmark and Indonesia opened cooperation in four business sectors - maritime, agribusiness, urban solution and renewable and sesigns and lifestyle.
"Indonesia has the fourth largest population in the world , but the country is a secret well maintained. The more the world is aware of its potentials, fostering political and economic relation with Indonesia would become a priority," Klynge said.
The cooperation was initiated on the occasion of the visit here by Danish Queen Margrethe II and Prince Consort Hendrik to mark the 65th diplomatic ties between the two countries.(*)
