The citizens welcomed Jokowi at the official residence of Indonesian Ambassador Wisma Tilden on Sunday at 3:38 p.m. local time.
The head of state accompanied by First Lady Iriana Joko Widodo were welcomed by Indonesian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the United States Budi Bowoleksono and Indonesian Permanent Representative to the United Nations Desra Percaya.
Several state officers who are accompanying Jokowi during the visit are Economic Coordinating Minister Darmin Nasution, Foreign Affairs Minister Retno Marsudi, Communication and Information Minister Rudiantara, Trade Minister Thomas Lembong, and Head of the Investment Coordinating Board Franky Sibarani.
Jokowi and his entourage held a meeting with 1,250 representatives of Indonesian citizens in the United States and the Indonesian Diaspora at 4 p.m. local time.
After the meeting, Jokowi left Wisma Tilden for the Blair House at 6 p.m. local time.
Jokowi is scheduled to have a bilateral meeting with his American counterpart Barack Obama to discuss four issues at the Oval Office, White House, on Monday morning.
Retno L.P. Marsudi said the president is expected to bring home an investment commitment worth US$20 billion from his visit.
"The cooperation with 19 companies in various sectors will amount to US$20 billion," remarked the minister.(*)
