Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung said he had reported to President Joko Widodo about progress made in the debate over the draft state budget.
"We are confident, both the government and the House of Representatives want to use the the state budget as a vehicle" to improve the peoples welfare," Pramono Anung said in this South Sumatra city on Thursday.
Pramono Anung was here to accompany President Joko Widodo, who has decided to temporarily make his working office here to be close to the area ravaged by forest fires in South Sumatra.
The President cut short his working visit to the United States and flew directly to South Sumatra to coordinate efforts to put and end to the fires
He said he was confident there would be no deadlock as the government will seek a compromise and a way out.
He said a solution could be found to certain problems raised by some factions at the Parliament.
"Certainly we communicate with all political parties both the ruling and opposition parties. We dont expect decision to be made through voting," he said.
He said direct communications with the parliament had been made by the Coordinating Minister for Political Affairs and Security Luhut Binsar Panjaitan and himself.
"The Finance Minister has also reported to the president," he said.
The President gave guidelines to related ministers to minimize differences in the debate over the draft state budget.
The 2016 state budget is expected to be able to serve as an instrument to implement the presidents concept to Nawacita, he said.
He said the president would not communicate directly with the political parties, but he would do that through his ministers.(*)
