"Just now, the president received businessmen who have used the (online) technology and have significant impacts on the community," Communication and Information Minister Rudiantara said.
Among the businessmen are the owner of "Gojek", who has provided jobs for thousands of people and is considered a sustainable business.
The owners of online-shopping Tokopedia and online-travel agency Traveloka were also present at the meeting to discuss ] social media-based businesses that have not yet been regulated by the government.
"There are many inputs regarding accessibility, regulations and logistics (conveyed during the meeting)," the minister stated.
Some of the participants complained about logistics, citing that selling goods overseas is easier than inside the country.
President Jokowi supported an idea to form a forum of businessmen using the social media for business.
"It is predicted the e-commerce will reach US$320 billion by 2020. So, we need to improve the ecosystem (of online businesses)," Minister Rudiantara said.(*)
