Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The chairman of the Peoples Consultative Assembly (MPR), Zulkifli Hasan expressed deep sorrow for the victims of the terrorist attacks in Paris, Friday.

"Indonesia is mourning over the humanitarian tragedy in Paris, France," he said at the parliament building here Saturday.

Zulkifli, who is also the chairman of the National Mandate Party (PAN), said the armed attacks and bombings in Paris were cruel and must not recur.

MPR member Muhaimin Iskandar said he was shocked when he heard about the armed attacks in Paris that have killed more than 150 people.

"France has so far been known as a safe country. France has so far also implemented a tight security system," he said here Saturday, and added that the attacks were beyond the expectations of many people.

Muhaimin, who is also the general chairman of the Nation Awakening Party, said he hoped the countrys leaders would take anticipatory measures to prevent such an incident from happening again in the future.
