Indonesia led by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) is the only ASEAN member which is registered as one of the G20 member countries.Antalya, Turkey (ANTARA News) - A number of representatives of the non-G20 member countries attended the opening of G20 Leaders Summit in the Regnum Carya Antalya hotel in Turkey on Sunday.
Indonesia led by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) is the only ASEAN member which is registered as one of the G20 member countries, according to Ari Dwipayana, the presidential communication team member here on Sunday.
Some of the non-G20 member countries who attended the opening of G20 Leaders Summit are leaders of Azerbaijan, Spain, Malaysia, Senegal, Singapore and Zimbabwe.
In the opening of the G20 summit, one by one of leaders of the G-20 member countries arrive and were greeted by Turkish President Recep Erdogan which started at 12.00 Local Time, Sunday, at Regnum Carya Antalya hotel as location of the G20 leaders meeting.
President Jokowi arrived at the location of the meting on Sunday at 12.45 p.m. local time or 05.45 p.m. Western Indonesia Time (WIB).
The president at the stage of the summit was greeted by the Turkeys President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and had a little talk with Erdogan before having a sit at the specified place.
President Jokowi sat on the right side and on the first line between leaders of Mexico and Zimbabwe, and in front of Malaysias Prime Minister Najib Razak.
G20 consisting of 19 countries and added with the European Union. The G20 countries control 75 percent of world trade.
Indonesia is one of ASEAN member countries which also registered as one of the G20 members.
President Jokowi at the working lunch meeting, will joint discussion about development and climate change issues.
Of the G20 member countries, the representatives of France and Argentina failed to come, while the United States finally attended the summit after it expressed cancellation in the event.
Earlier, Foreign Affairs Minister Retno Marsudi said President Jokowi will not attend the G20 summit till the end of meeting due to the domestic tasks.
President Jokowi arrived at Antalya Airport in Turkey on Saturday night or early Sunday (Western Indonesian Time) to attend the G20 Leaders Summit.
The President arrived at the Antalya Airport at 08.20 p.m. local time after a four-hour flight from the Abu Dhabi International Airport where he made a stopover for two hours.
Indonesian Ambassador to Turkey Wardana and some Turkish protocol officials picked up the President and his entourage including First Lady Iriana Joko Widodo, Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi and Finance Minister Bambang Brodjonegoro at the door of Presidential Plane Indonesia 1.(*)
