Therefore, it is important for the younger generation in Indonesia ..."Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President University and Australias leading training institute, Careers Australia, have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on career development cooperation for the younger generation in Indonesia.
"The MoU provides a significant opportunity to our students and businesses in the Jababeka Industrial Estate to acquire additional skills," Dr Chandra Setiawan PhD, the rector of President University, remarked here.
Setiawan pointed out that Indonesia is currently facing a shortage of adequate, competitive, and professional human resources.
"Without professionalism, international qualifications, and proficiency in English language, it would become difficult for Indonesia to face the challenges that the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) will bring in 2016," he explained.
According to Setiawan, the MEA will provide an opportunity to professionals from other ASEAN countries to work in Indonesia, but it will certainly increase competition for some jobs, particularly in multinational companies.
"Therefore, it is important for the younger generation in Indonesia to gain international qualifications and language skills," the President University rector emphasized.
In the meantime, Jababeka Group Chairman S.D. Darmono remarked that the qualifications offered by Careers Australia will help businesses in Jababeka City to improve the skills of their staff.
"It is important for Indonesia to have international skills that are recognized throughout the world and to help the company to improve productivity and compete with others," remarked Darmono.
Meanwhile, Careers Australia CEO Walter Gilmore said the company is pleased to collaborate with President University.
"We are very pleased to work with President University, which is famous for teaching in English and for its relations with the business community," stated Gilmore.
