Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Despite not being in good health for the past few days, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) continues to carry out official tasks as usual at the presidential office.

Ari Dwipayana from the presidential communications team remarked in a statement here on Thursday that the president is still carrying on with his office work at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta.

"We need to inform the public that the president is actually not in good shape, but he remains active at office as usual since there are some state duties that require full attention of the head of state," Dwipayana remarked.

President Jokowi was scheduled to attend the main event of the Anti-Corruption Festival 2015 in Bandung, West Java, but he cancelled it and appointed Coordinating Minister for Political, Law and Security Affairs Luhut Pandjaitan to represent him.

"Mister president tried until the last minute to attend the event but he could not and has offered his apology since he is not in good shape," Pandjaitan remarked while reading out a written statement from the president.

In his written statement read out by the security minister, President Jokowi stated that collective efforts of all parties are needed to fight corruption in Indonesia as this reprehensible practice cannot be eradicated by a single agency.

"Through collective efforts, we can combat corruption as it cannot be addressed by one institution alone. Therefore, we invite all citizens and other concerned parties to jointly fight corruption," the president said.

The Anti-Corruption Festival was attended by important figures such as Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Acting Chairman Taufiqurrahman Ruki, Attorney General HM Prasetyo, Health Minister Nila Djuwita F. Moeloek, National Police Chief General Badrodin Haiti, DPD Chairman Irman Gusman, West Java Governor Ahmad Heryawan, and Bandung Mayor M. Ridwan Kamil.(*)
