"(We) saw no explosion in the air. As the plane still had residual fuel there was an impact on the ground before it burst into flames," Commander of the Adisutjipto Airbase in Yogyakarta Commodore Imran Baidirus said.
A team of investigators from the Indonesian Air Force Headquarters is still looking into the main cause of the plane crash, he said.
The plane which was bought in 2013 crashed in a plantation area which is not far from the airbase, killing its pilot and co-pilot.
Following the accident, the authorities decided to stop the air show, which had been held since Saturday. (*)
