"Besides discharging 62 officers disgracefully, the police also took action against 25 officers by transferring them to other places and lowering their ranks for violating the code of ethics," Chief of the Riau Provincial Police Brigadier General Dolly Bambang Hermawan stated here on Friday.
Overall, the police officers were involved in 629 cases of violation, including 507 disciplinary violations and 33 criminal offenses, he revealed.
The number of officers represents 5.8 percent of the overall police force in Riau province, he pointed out.
Most of the police personnel violating the codes of ethics were of brigadier rank, he noted.
Hermawan said he will continue to take stern action against any of his men found guilty of committing misdeeds to serve as a deterrent. (*)
