Bandung, W Java (ANTARA News) - A team from the forensic laboratory of the National Police Headquarters gathered fragments of an object that had exploded at the Bandung Square for the purpose of investigation.

"All pieces of evidence have been taken from the scene to the National Police Headquarters forensic laboratory," spokesman for the West Java Provincial Police, Senior Commissioner Sulistyo Pudjo Hartono, said on Friday.

The explosion occurred at Dalem Kaum Street in Bandung near the official residence of Bandung Mayor Ridwan Kamil shortly after residents celebrated New Years Eve early Friday.

The object that exploded was found under a car belonging to an employee of the national television station.

"The pieces of evidence that were collected included a mug-shaped container, nails, a used watch and a battery," Pudjo said.

The police are questioning several witnesses, he said.

Pudjo said the police are still investigating whether the exploded material was a molotov cocktail or a firecracker that resembled a bomb with a low intensity.

"Let us wait for the results of the investigation conducted by the National Police Headquarters," he said.(*)
