Palm Springs, California (ANTARA News) - Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) will hold bilateral meetings during his visit to the United States with Prime Minister of Laos PDR Thongsing Thammavong and Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung to discuss ASEAN issues.

Indonesian Foreign Affairs Minister Retno LP Marsudi stated here on Sunday that President Jokowi visited the United States to attend the ASEAN-US Summit being held in Sunnylands on February 15-16, 2016.

According to the minister, President Jokowi will meet PM Dung at the Tuscany Room of Miramonte Resort on Monday between 9:25 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. local time.

Retno noted that Indonesia will discuss recent issues related to the ASEAN with Vietnam.

After the meeting, Presiden Jokowi will meet PM Thammavong in the same room.

"The discussion will cover various issues. Additionally, during the meeting with Laos, the PDR leader who also serves as the ASEAN chairman, will offer Indonesias complete support to Laos as the ASEAN chairman," Marsudi affirmed.

President Jokowi and his entourage arrived at the Palm Springs International Airport in California, the United States, on Sunday evening to attend the ASEAN-US Summit.

The ASEAN-US Summit is being held following the ASEANs new strategic partnership with the United States reached on 2015 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The strategic partnership will be realized through the implementation of the ASEAN-US action plan for the 2016-2020 period.

The action plan will support three pillars of the ASEAN Community and five priority areas, including economic integration, maritime cooperation, inter-nation challenges, including climate change, as well as the empowerment of women and children.
