The two ministers discussed efforts to strengthen bilateral relations in the fields of economic and education, as well as in people-to-people ties, the Indonesian Foreign Ministry said in a statement, here, Sunday.
Retno Marsudi invited Jordanian businessmen to participate in various trade exhibitions in Indonesia, and to do businesses as well as invest in Indonesia as the government has issued deregulatory economic packages aimed at boosting foreign investment in the country.
The bilateral trade value between Indonesia and Jordan reached US$256.02 million in 2015, with a deficit worth US$65.54 million suffered by Indonesia.
Jordans investment value in Indonesia in 2015 was recorded at US$0.23 million in five projects.
Jordan Phosphate Mines Company (JPMC) has planned to construct a fertilizer plant in Bontang, East Kalimantan, in a joint venture with Indonesian fertilizer company PT Pupuk Kaltim.
The two ministers also discussed the results of the recent extraordinary summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) organized in Jakarta on March 6 and 7, 2016.
The OIC called for a boycott of products produced in or by illegal Israel settlements to pressure the Israeli Zionist regime to end its occupation of Palestinian land.
"Calling on the international community to support the boycott of products produced in or by illegal Israel settlements," the OIC said in the 16th point of 23-point Jakarta Declaration issued at the conclusion of the Fifth Extraordinary OIC Summit on Palestine and Al Quds Al Sharif (Jerusalem), in Jakarta, on March 7.
The Muslim-majority nations also pledge to increase financial assistance and capacity building to strengthen the Palestinian government institution.
Minister Retno was also scheduled to pay a courtesy call on Jordans Prime Minister.(*)
