He won the title after beating Angga Pratama/Ricky Karanda who are their fellow countrymen in the final round 21-17, 21-13.
"We have won Grand Prix and Grand Prix Gold tournaments and now we won a super-series tournament. We will perhaps play better this year," Marcus said after the game as quoted by the public relations and media team of the All Indonesia Badminton Association in its website.
Marcus said the key to their victory was solidity and understanding about the style of partners.
Marcus/Kevin who won Taiwan Grand Prix 2015 and Malaysia Grand Prix 2016 admitted they felt quite nervous meeting their fellow countrymen but the tension ended after they won the game.
"Our opponents are our friends in the national training center and so we know each other well. They looked pressured and we had successfully attacked them," he said.
Angga/Ricky admitted Marcus/Kevin performed better. "They performed better today. But we did not give up. We would find another opportunity in the next tournament," Angga said.
Indonesia won only one champion title after its mixed double pair, Riky Widianto/Richi Puspita Dili lost to Chinese Lu Kai/Huang Yaqiong 13-21, 16-21 in the final round of the tournament.(*)
