"During the April 2016 season period, we expect to complete and endorse it at the plenary season to be held April 29, 2016," Chairman of the House Commission II Rambe Kamarul Zaman said on the sidelines of a working visit at Airlangga University here Monday.
The visit was aimed at gathering inputs related to the revision of the regional head election law.
Inputs from academics are important to assess and discuss the revision of the law because they will influence a policy-making process, he said.
Besides Airlangga University, the House Commission II is also seeking inputs from academics of Hasanuddin University in Makassar, South Sulawesi, and North Sumatra University in Medan, North Sumatra.
"The deliberation on the revision of the law is urgent as we have short time. We must admit that the government-proposed revision of the law is somewhat late as we only received the proposal in March. We must try to get it revised soon so that it does not disrupt the regional head elections in the future," he said.(*)
