According to the Malaysian Embassy in Jakarta on Wednesday, Aman will arrive in Yogyakarta on Thursday (May 5) at the invitation of Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi.
Philippine Foreign Minister Jose Rene Almendras is also expected to attend the trilateral meeting, which will be held at the Yogyakarta Agung Building.
Indonesian Defense Forces (TNI) Commander General Gatot Nurmantyo and military officers of the two other countries are also scheduled to attend the meeting.
They will discuss the main agenda relating to incidents of piracy and the situation in the maritime territories of the three countries.
Regarding the coordination plan in the maritime sector, the Malaysian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has expressed its commitment to cooperating with Indonesia and the Philippines in maintaining security, safety, and stability at sea, where incidents of piracy are common.
The Abu Sayyaf militant group has abducted a total of 14 Indonesian sailors in southern Philippines in March and April. The group released 10 of them on Sunday, but four others are still being held hostage.(*)
