"By all means, the government welcomes the decision and hopes that it can improve national soccer especially in its organizational management, youth development program and transparency," Head of Public Communication of the Ministry of Youth and Sports Gatot S Dewa Broto said here Saturday.
FIFA decision was taken after the Government Tuesday (May 10) lifted a decree that suspended the PSSI.
"The Government of Indonesia has advised us that the decree that was causing the suspension has been lifted," FIFA President Gianni Infantino was quoted by Reuters on Friday as saying.
FIFA banned the association in May last year after a long dispute between the government and the PSSI over which teams should be entered into the top domestic league.
Previously, Indonesia send its two delegation, Head of Indonesias Olympic Committee Erick Tohir, and Chair of Ad-Hoc team for PSSI Reformation Agum Gumelar to meet FIFA officials in Switzerland on April 26 to discuss the turmoil in the national soccer federation.
During the meeting it was agreed that the Government of Indonesia should lift a decree considered to constitute unacceptable interference in the soccer federation before FIFA lifted the suspension.(*)
