Director of Survey and Polling Indonesia (SPIN) Igor Dirgantara said a polling in Jakarta showed that Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok) still led with 34.1 percent of respondents saying they would vote for Ahok, with 15.2 percent saying they would give their votes for Sandi Uno.
Other hopefuls Yusril Ihza Mahendra was favored only by 14.7 percent, Adhyaksa Dault 11.2 percent, Abraham Lunggana 10.7 percent, Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin 9.5 percent and Hasnaeni Moein 4.6 percent.
"The telephoning research was made by asking respondents about their favorites to lead Jakarta after the next election in 2017, Igor said.
Igor said noteworthy about the result of the survey was that slow but certain Sandiaga Uno (Sandi Uno) gained popularity as a result of his active visits to the people including in slump areas of the capital city.
"The people of Jakarta begin to know Sandi Uno more closely," Igor said.
Sandi Uno is the most active in visiting people in their places especially those of middle to low class people.
In the past three months, Sandi Uno has visited more than 105 kelurahan (the lowest government administration) in Jakarta.
Sandi Uno also is active in maintaining communications with political parties.
He even took part in fit and proper tests by a number of political parties other than Gerindra, which sponsored his candidacy.
Sandi Uno has gone through fit and proper tests by PDIP, Demokrat, PAN, PKB, PPP, and PKS, shown his flexibility.(*)
