"Once we complete the process, we will bring the body to Denpasar," West Nusa Tenggara Acting Regional Secretary Lalu Moh. Faozal stated after observing the arrival of the victim's body at Bhayangkara Hospital here on Wednesday.
The victim, identified as JDSP, 27, will be transported by land before crossing Lombok Strait to reach Bali as there is no direct flight from Lombok Island to Bali, he explained.
The province's official confirmed that the victim's family would be present for the autopsy, adding that they stayed in Sembalun, East Lombok, before the procedure began.
The provincial authority will cover all expenses for JDSP's family during their stay in East Nusa Tenggara, including the ambulance fee and transportation needs, Faozal stated.
The accident occurred near Mount Rinjani's Cemara Nunggal point on Saturday morning, June 21, while she was hiking with a tour group toward the mountain peak.
The SAR team located her on Monday (June 23) using a thermal drone. However, according to drone surveillance, the victim appeared unresponsive.
"According to preliminary checks, we found no sign of life on the victim," Muhamad Hariyadi, Mataram SAR Office head, said, adding that three other rescuers who later reached the site confirmed the same.
As the SAR team toiled to reach the victim, the personnel encountered "extreme and foggy terrain around the site of the incident," Hariyadi stated. The victim's body was successfully retrieved from the ravine and airlifted to the Bhayangkara Hospital on Wednesday.
