One of our men suffered mild wounds inflicted by the explosion ..."Solo (ANTARA News) - The suicide bomb detonated near the Surakarta Police headquarters, Tuesday morning, was a low-explosive device, according to the citys Police Chief Ahmad Luthfi.
"The perpetrator was a man, about 30 to 50 years old, and died at the location of the incident as his back and thighs were blown apart as a result of the blast," he revealed.
The Police chief explained that the suspect had trespassed into the headquarters alone using an automatic motorbike, but he made a u-turn as the path was a dead end. As he did, he shouted the two sentences of Shahadah (testimony). An officer attempted to pursue him, but before he could question the trespasser on his motives, the suspect reached his jacket pocket and detonated the bomb.
"One of our men suffered mild wounds inflicted by the explosion and was immediately taken to the hospital," noted Luthfi.
Luthfi confirmed that there was no significant damage to property as the bomb was a low-explosive device.
"Currently, we are not able to confirm who the suspect was. The police are currently investigating his identity," he stated.
Luthfi gave assurance of the safety of Solos citizens and called on them to stay united and continue with their day-to-day activities.
"We encourage the people to stay calm and continue doing their activities. The police will ensure their safety in Solo," Luthfi remarked at the scene of the incident.
