Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Peoples Consultative Assembly (MPR) Chairman Zulkifli Hasan has appealed to the society to celebrate Eid al-Fitr, commonly known in Indonesia as Lebaran, in peace without being perturbed by Tuesdays suicide bombing in Solo, Central Java.

"Happy Eid al-Fitr, and happy gathering with family and relatives. We hope the public will stay calm," Hasan remarked after performing the Eid prayers with Vice President M. Jusuf Kalla at the Istiqlal Mosque in Jakarta on Wednesday.

The MPR chairman affirmed that the public should believe that the security forces were doing a good job in handling the suicide bombing in Solo.

"Leave the case to the security forces, and let us celebrate the victorious day of Lebaran in peace," Hasan said.

Related to numerous terror attacks ahead of Eid in the world, such as in Baghdad, Medina, and Qatif in Saudi Arabia, the MPR chairman asserted that such actions were inhuman and purely barbarous.

"These are heinous acts. There is no religion that preaches violence," he emphasized.

On Monday, a bomb blast occurred in Baghdad, Iraq, which killed at least 160 people and injured hundreds more.

On the next day, Tuesday, a bomb exploded in the holy city of Medina and Qatif that left seven people dead.

In Indonesia, a bomb carried by a motorcyclist exploded at the Surakarta Police Station, killing the perpetrator and injuring several members of the police force.
