Branch Head of Jasa Raharja Bali Sulistianingtias stated in Denpasar on Friday that foreign nationals were also entitled to compensation for road accidents if the tourists were in any region of the country and were using vehicles.
"As long as they are in any part of Indonesia and are using vehicles registered in the country at the time of the accident, they are entitled to compensation," she revealed.
Earlier, on June 27, 2016, the victim and her husband Alexander Pilzak were riding a motorcycle bearing registration number DK 8057 LT when they met with a road accident in the Nusa Dua area in South Kuta.
The hit-and-run accident occurred at around 6 p.m. local time, and the victim died on the way to the nearest hospital.
Jasa Raharja Bali has paid a compensation worth Rp25 million, through the Russian Consul in Ungasan, Jimbaran, after the victims family completed the administrative requirements.
Sulistianingtias stated that during this time of the year, several tourists were likely to become victims of road accidents but never received any compensation from Jasa Raharja.
"They were taken to hospitals but then discharged immediately to leave for their homes. We will take steps to ensure that their rights are met," she affirmed.
Compensation was handed out to tourists, who suffered from minor or severe injuries, and also to the families of those who lost their lives.
Jasa Raharja is giving compensation based on Police reports.(*)
