"We need to look closer at the root cause of every terror attack that has taken place around the world," Indonesian Vice President Jusuf Kalla said in his speech on the second day of the eleventh ASEM Summit on July 16, 2016, according to a press statement from the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs received by ANTARA here Monday.
Kalla attended the retreat session accompanied by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, AM Fachir.
Terror attacks have been spreading not only in failed states but also in stable countries, Kalla said.
Countries around world should establish joint reconstruction programs in politics, economy, and socio-culture in order to overcome terrorism, he remarked.
The statement was agreed and supported by the other ASEM countries leaders.
Unilateralism against the failed states would cause massive negative reactions, he emphasized.
"Terrorism would become an expression of anger of people from the suppressed countries," Kalla said.
Unilateralism is also considered a form of state radicalism, he added.
The ASEM leaders conveyed their concerns and condemned the terror attacks that occurred at several locations across the world, especially in the Asian and European regions, one of which was in Nice, France, on July 15, 2016.
The leaders of ASEM countries agreed to enhance international cooperation on handling terrorism as per international laws and the UN charter.
