Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has arrested two regional officials of the Public Works and Housing (PUPR) Ministry on charge of corruption.

Amran Hi Mustary , head of the National Road Executive Agency of the PUPR Ministry for Maluku and North Maluku was sent to a police detention center after being grilled over alleged graft.

"KPK arrested Amran Hi Mustary after it found enough evidence to send him to custody," Deputy Chairman of KPK Laode M Syarif said here on Tuesday.

In a court session investigati president director of PT Windhu Tunggal Utama Abdul Khoir it was said Amran Hi Mustary received a bribe of Rp15.606 billion and 223,270 Singaporean dollar and a cellular phone worth Rp11.5 million.

In the following session of the court, secretary general of the PUPR Ministry Taufik Widyoyono admitted guilty of accepting a bribe of US$10,000 from Amran, who also was said to give US$5,000 to another official of the PUPR Ministry A Hasanudin in Jakarta.

Amrans lawyer Hendra Karianga also said there were flows of funds to a number of PUPR officials.

"We will give details of it later. Amran has many superiors. There are director generals, secretary general and directors. All asked for a share, without the knowledge of the minister," Hendra said.

KPK already named six other suspects in the same case including a PDIP lawmaker Damayanti Wisnu Putranti, a Golkar lawmaker Budi Supriyanto, a PAN lawmaker Andi Taufan Tiro, Abdul Khoir, who gave the bribes now serving a four year jail term.(*)
